We have all heard of climate change right? But do you know how deforestation affects the world? Deforestation is where people cut down trees and forests which leads to animals losing their homes and adds carbon dioxide into the air as well as removing the ability to absorb existing carbon dioxide. Trees also absorb water during the rainy season and if they are cut down the possibility of flooding increases. Forests and trees also help to prevent soil erosion because they provide shelter to rain and wind which obviously moves the land. Roots help secure the soil and when they are removed it disturbs the soil!

Emotional Literacy
This Term our focus for PBL is emotional literacy so we have been learning about the different aspects of it, and this time we were learning about Emotional Literacy. But what is it? Emotional Literacy is to
Share your emotions
Know and identify your emotions
Know or reconise how others are feeling.
Know how to deal with your emotions
Boosting your self esteem.
The tasks we did to help our understanding were to sort different emotions into separate groups. So we made a cross with half the lines being something different all the time ( high energy, low energy, pleasent and unpleasent. So for example in one of the boxes were the calm and happy emotions and some being low energy and pleasent (such as calm). We also had to do another task asking us when we felt particular emotions this is mine.
Thank you for reading this blog post, hopefully you learnt some thing new.

Reading/Inner Peace
These last two weeks we have been reading about inner peace and how to get it. We had to choose a section of and article and read it, the section I choose was of physical health and I learnt that in order to get full physical health you need to eat healthy, exercise regularly and get a good sleep. The create task however was to choose a shape and draw what you believe peace is, in it. I drew on paper rather than digitally because I find easier, so I split my shape into thirds and drew at piture of a lake, me sitting on the paddock fence watching my favourite pony Rocky and a portrait of my pets. I really enjoyed this create task seeing as I love drawing but I found harder to come up with the idea.
I hope you enjoyed this blog and learned something!
Thank you for reading!

Rainbow Reading/Teaching Te Reo
Welcome to this new blog post! This week we were working the Fantastics! But what are they?
As you see up top, those are the Fantastics. The task we were to do was read through an article of our choice and highlight words and sentences the colour of the Fantastics. If the word was excited or sad then it would be highlighted red as a feeling which is first on the fantastic rainbow. There were also some images of what made an article so for example the headline, strap line and more. The article I read was about teaching Te Reo in schools. Here is a screenshot of what I've done.

Maths in 2020 Term 3
This time my goal was Use a broad range of mental strategies to solve addition and subtraction problems.
The strategies were Equal adjustment, Place Value and Reversibility .
My favourite was probably Place value because it was the easiest for me.
A place value question!
552+231=?
All you need to do is add the hundreds together.
500+200=700
And then add the tens together
50+30=80
And then add the ones together!
2+1=3
So the answer is 783!
Did you learn anything new?

This Week for Literacy we had to write a show not tell descriptive text. Show not tell means you can't tell the reader directly what you are talking about I described wheat as Yellow scratchy forage as it describes what I'm talking about but it doesn't mention the word hay.
Here is a screenshot of my writing doc.

Reading + Sweet Home 3d
This week for Reading we had to create a google drawing about a facility you would like to add to New Zealand! It had to be related to Turangawaewae and NZ so I decided, we didn't have an agility centre (for dogs) in NZ so why not make one (obviously this probably won't happen) I decided that the relation to NZ would be that all the equipment would be Eco friendly and NZ made! Here is the google drawing I created!
If you would like a closer look here is my LinkThursday, March 25, 2021
